Our First Celebrity Selfie

I do believe this is a first for the treasured timeout blog, our first ever selfie… with a celebrity!

While on the train to Salem, we remembered Kelly Doty from the Ink Master Tattoo TV series had a studio in Salem… could we look her up and see if there were any appointments available?… no, surely not!?

Jánine being Janine, says of course we can?… let’s go!… which way?

10 minutes later, we’re walking in the front door and standing face to face (kind of, due to us all wearing Covid face masks) with Kelly Doty herself!… OMG!

It’s got to be said, her studio looked amazing, it had a dark and creepy vibe, with her amazing artwork decorating the walls with a few fake cobwebs here and there to add to the spookiness of it all.

What a lovely person she was, we ended up having a 5 minute conversation with her too… after we got past our star struck phase where we couldn’t even remember our names! 🤣

The Signs Are Everywhere!

…Witch signs that is, as you could imagine, almost every corner in a Salem seemed to have some sort of witch based theme… Jánine was loving it! 😃

After hitting the shops hard and looking in every nook and cranny in each and every shop we came across… usually with at least two laps in each! I did manage to pull Jánine away for a few minutes to refuel… (to give strength for further shopping of course). 😉

We found The Village Tavern in Salem, which looked like a great place to grab a burger with a well earned alcoholic beverage. 😉

After being seated and ordering, we were then asked for some ID… obviously the youth potion had kicked in by now! 😉 … apparently not, it’s just law in Massachusetts when serving alcohol. ☹️

Being the cautious types that we are, we didn’t take any ID out with us, opting to leave the passports and driving licences back at the hotel in the safe… Coke it is then. 😢

THE Witch Museum

First stop, THE witch museum in Salem, which tells the story of what happened back in 1692 at the witch trials.

We’ve arrived… and some of us with a huge grin on their face! 😃

I think I can safely say, I’ve never seen Jánine at such a loss for words before!, I could ask a question and it took about 20 seconds for the words to sink in, the sentence to be processed and a response to be formed, before I had any kind of a reply, 🤣 as all of her attention and being was focused on the wares in front of her.
